No Android 14 update for Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy S20

  • The Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy S20 won’t receive the Android 14-based One UI 6 update.
  • Although Samsung includedthese devices in its One UI 6-related article on its website, they will only receive some Galaxy Enhance-X features.
  • In the article’s footnotes, Samsung mentioned that the Galaxy Enhance-X features would be available on devices running One UI 6 or higher, including the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20. However, this was likely a mistake on Samsung’s part.
  • The mistake has been corrected, and the list of eligible devicesin the footnote has been updated.
  • When Samsung launched the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 in 2020, they committed to providing three major Android OS updates. Since these devices came with Android 10 pre-installed, they received three updates – Android 11, Android 12, and Android 13.
  • As per reports, the company later extended its software update support to four years of Android OS updates for the Galaxy S21 series, but this extension wasn’t announced for the Galaxy Note 20 and the Galaxy S20.

Samsung recently revealed details about One UI 6, focusing on various AI camera enhancements. These include a new “Enhance-X” app, improved AI image clipping to separate subjects from backgrounds, and adjustments to the camera interface, such as a toggle for high-resolution photos and enhancements to the built-in photo editor. The Android-14 based One UI 6 also brings some notable changes to the table. It introduces a new Sans font for the whole system, adds new emojis, and makes system animations smoother. There’s a new weather widget for better future forecast viewing, and Samsung’s system apps have been enhanced as well.
