OnePlus 12R spotted on IMDA certification site, launch seems imminent

OnePlus is gearing up to launch the OnePlus 12 flagship in China on December 5th. But that is not the only device in the works as we are hearing rumours about the OnePlus 12R, which is speculated to be a rebrand of the OnePlus Ace 3. This will arrive as a slightly affordable version of the OnePlus 12. Now, the OnePlus 12R has been spotted on Singapore’ IMDA certification site.

OnePlus 12R gets IMDA certification

• According to the IMDA certification, OnePlus 12R carries the model number CPH2609.
• The IMDA certification (via) reveals the phone would come with 5G network support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC connectivity.

• The listing doesn’t reveal any hardware specifications of the phone but rumours have hinted us on what to expect.
• The recent global marketing campaign has leaked the launch date of the OnePlus 12R as January 23rd in India.
• However, the company is yet to officially confirm the launch date

• Display:The OnePlus Ace 3 aka OnePlus 12R is tipped to come with a 6.74-inch 1.5K OLED display with curved edges, a punch-hole cutout for the selfie shooter, a 120Hz refresh rate, and PWM dimming support.
• Processor: The handset is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, similar to the OnePlus 11.
• Cameras:The OnePlus Ace 3 or OnePlus 12R could come with a 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor, an 8MP ultrawide OmniVision OV8D10 sensor and a 32MP Sony IMX709 telephoto shooter with up to 2x optical zoom. There could be a 16MP snapper on the front for selfies and video chats.
• Memory:The phone could pack up to 16GB/24GB LPDDR5x RAM and up to 512GB / 1TB UFS 4.0 storage.
• Battery:The OnePlus 12R could pack a 5,500mAh battery with 100W charging support support.
• Connectivity: 5G, 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port for charging.
• There could be an in-display fingerprint sensor for security.

• OnePlus 12 launch could take place earlier than usual next year.
• OnePlus 12R could launch alongside it.

• A day after we learned that the OnePlus 12is debuting in China on December 4th, its possible global launch timeline is out. The OnePlus 12 “series” is tipped to launch globally in January. Alongside it, the OnePlus 12R launch could also happen on the same day. Here’s what we know about these two devices.

• As per Max Jambor on X.com, the global launch of the OnePlus12 series could take place in January. His post emphasises the word “Series,” which leads us to believe that more than one phone could launch and the chances are this second device will be the OnePlus 12R.
• Last year, the OnePlus 11R was launchedin India alongside the vanilla OnePlus 11. Notably, the OnePlus Ace 3 and the Ace series phones have historically launched as R models globally.
• The reason OnePlus is expediting the flagship launch event next year could be because Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is already here, and the former’s competitor Samsung is also rumoured to launch the Galaxy S series earlier next year, in January.

OnePlus 12 series specifications (expected)

• Display:The OnePlus 12 could come with a 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED screen with 2K ProXDR resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and individual pixel-calibration support. This is said to have got an A+ certification from DisplayMate.Meanwhile, the OnePlus 12R could feature a 6.74-inch OLED screen with 1.5K pixel resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and PWM dimming support.

• Processor: OnePlus  could be running on Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC while the 12R could have Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 inside.
• Memory: Both these devices could bring up to 24GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage.
• Battery: OnePlus 12 could have a 5,400mAh battery with 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging support while the 12R could bear a 5,500mAh cell with the same 100W fast charging support.
• Software: The software in use will likely be Android 14-based OxygenOS.
• Cameras: OnePlus 12’s rear camera setup could consist of a 50MP Sony LYT-808 sensor with OIS, a 50MP Sony IMX581 ultrawide sensor and a 64MP 3x telephoto zoom sensor with OIS.As for the OnePlus 12R, the expectation is a 50MP Sony IMX890 main sensor, an 8MP OmniVision OV8D10 ultrawide sensor and a 32MP Sony IMX709 telephoto zoom sensor.
