The Redmi K70 series launch date in China officially revealed. The phones will arrive as successors to the Redmi K60 and like the predecessor, will have multiple variants: the vanilla Redmi K70, Redmi K70 Pro and Redmi K70e. The phones will launch on November 29th and the teaser images posted by the brand have confirmed some key specifications, including the chipset and more.

 

Separately, the Redmi K70e’s alleged hands-on image has surfaced online, revealing the design of the phone ahead of the launch. The specifications have also been tipped.

Redmi K70 series launch date confirmed

  • The Redmi K70 series is set to debut on November 29thin China.
  • The Redmi K70 Pro is confirmed to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. This makes the second phone from Xiaomi to ship with the new Qualcomm flagship processor after the Xiaomi 14
  • The cheaper Redmi K70e will come with a 1.5K display with 1800nits brightness, 12-bit colour depth, and 1920Hz PWM high-frequency dimming.
  • The handset would come with a 5,000mAh battery, 90W fast charging support, and the new MediaTek Dimensity 8300 Ultra chipset.
  • The Redmi K70e will come with 5000mm2 gaming-grade stainless steel VC, which is claimed to be the biggest on a Redmi phone.

The Redmi K70e live images have leaked online, courtesy of DigitalChatStation on Weibo. The images show the phone will have slim bezels around the screen, a centre-positioned punch-hole cutout for the selfie shooter and flat edges. There will be an in-display fingerprint sensor for security. The volume rocker and power buttons are on the right edge. The phone will run HyperOS out of the box and there will be up to 1TB storage. While we don’t get to see the back panel, the recently leaked Redmi K70 showed a large camera island on the top portion with triple camera sensors. We speculate the Redmi K70e could also have a similar design.

  • Display: The Redmi K70e is tipped to come with a 6.67-inch 1.5K OLED 12-bit display with 120Hz refresh rate, 1,800 nits peak brightness, and 1,920Hz PWM dimming.

  • RAM/Storage: The chipset will be paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage

Redmi K70 series’ launch date hasn’t been revealed yet, but a number of leaks and speculations about the upcoming phone are making the rounds of the internet ahead of their official announcement. Recently, it was reported that the Redmi K70 appeared on Geekbench with the MediaTek Dimensity 8300 chipset. However, there are now suggestions that the one of the phones in the series could come equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 instead.

 

This complicates things since a while ago, the alleged Redmi K70 Pro was spotted on Geekbench running not Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, but its successor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.

Redmi K70 series chipset details

  • On Weibo, Lu Weibing, who is the President of Xiaomi China and the General Manager of Redmi, shared his appreciation for the second-generation Snapdragon 8 processor.
  • The company executive referred to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset as the standout flagship for 2023 because of its impressive performance and energy efficiency.
  • It is worth noting that the official didn’t directly mention the Redmi K70 series, but their posts’ timing hints that the smartphone might indeed run on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.
  • Weibing also wondered if the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 could achieve the same success as the Snapdragon 870.
