New OnePlus 12 leak reveals wood texture finish, similar to OnePlus One Walnut Wood edition

There’s been a lot of buzz around the OnePlus 12, the brand’s upcoming flagship phone. Following multiple leaks, OnePlus also confirmed the launch and started teasing the device. A new leak now reveals a wood texture design for the OnePlus 12. This could be a back finish for the upcoming flagship phone.

OnePlus 12 wood texture back

• OnePlus 12 has been spotted with the wood texture back finish. The image was sharedby leaker Digital Chat Station on Weibo.
• The translated text reads, “OnePlus 12 this time has a classic wood grain shell.”
• This hints at the OnePlus 12 coming with a wood-like finish at the back. The materials used aren’t known yet.
• Given DCS’s track record, this leak about the OnePlus 12 is most likely accurate.
• OnePlus is also known to experiment with different back finishes so it won’t be surprising to see one with a wood texture. The first OnePlus One smartphone came in a ‘Walnut Wood Edition’ so it’s something the company is already familiar with.

OnePlus  is confirmed to debut in China on December 4th, and its global launch is tipped to take place in January. OnePlus also confirmed the device will feature a new Sony LYT-808 sensor that has been co-developed with Sony. In terms of specs, it could be a 50MP Sony IMX966 sensor with OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide-angle Sony IMX581 sensor and a 64MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and OIS. As for the rest of its specifications, here’s what’s expected from the OnePlus 12.

• RAM and storage: is expected to launch with up to 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
• Battery, charging:The smartphone could pack a 5,400mAh battery with 100W wired charging, and 50W wireless charging support.
• Software:On the software front, OnePlus 12 will most likely run Android 14-based OxygenOS out-of-the-box.

• OnePlus 12 launch could take place earlier than usual next year.
• OnePlus R could launch alongside it.

• A day after we learned that the OnePlus is debuting in China on December 4th, its possible global launch timeline is out. The OnePlus 12 “series” is tipped to launch globally in January. Alongside it, the OnePlus 12R launch could also happen on the same day. Here’s what we know about these two devices.

• As per Max Jambor on X.com, the global launch of the OnePlus12 series could take place in January. His post emphasises the word “Series,” which leads us to believe that more than one phone could launch and the chances are this second device will be the OnePlus 12R.
• Last year, the OnePlus 11R was launchedin India alongside the vanilla OnePlus 11. Notably, the OnePlus Ace 3 and the Ace series phones have historically launched as R models globally.
• The reason OnePlus is expediting the flagship launch event next year could be because Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is already here, and the former’s competitor Samsung is also rumoured to launch the Galaxy S series earlier next year, in January.

OnePlus 12 series specifications (expected)

• Display:The OnePlus could come with a 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED screen with 2K ProXDR resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and individual pixel-calibration support. This is said to have got an A+ certification from DisplayMate.Meanwhile, the OnePlus 12R could feature a 6.74-inch OLED screen with 1.5K pixel resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and PWM dimming support.

• Processor: OnePlus  could be running on Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC while the 12R could have Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 inside.
• Memory: Both these devices could bring up to 24GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage.
• Battery: OnePlus  could have a 5,400mAh battery with 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging support while the 12R could bear a 5,500mAh cell with the same 100W fast charging support.
• Software: The software in use will likely be Android 14-based OxygenOS.
• Cameras: OnePlus 12’s rear camera setup could consist of a 50MP Sony LYT-808 sensor with OIS, a 50MP Sony IMX581 ultrawide sensor and a 64MP 3x telephoto zoom sensor with OIS.As for the OnePlus 12R, the expectation is a 50MP Sony IMX890 main sensor, an 8MP OmniVision OV8D10 ultrawide sensor and a 32MP Sony IMX709 telephoto zoom sensor.
