Smartphone brands Redmi and Realme hold a strong combined market share of approximately 33 percent. However, they might experience a notable market share decline to competitors like Lava and OnePlus, specifically with their Agni and Nord series, respectively.

According to a new report, as the smartphone market in India progresses, the younger generation is now looking beyond Redmi and Realme, exploring brands that offer premium features and innovative designs. Here are the details.

 

Redmi, Realme in India to see potential market share

As per a report by market research firm Techarc, OnePlus is projected to see a gain of 6 percent in market share, with Lava and Apple following with expected increases of 4 percent and 3 percent, respectively.

On the flip side, Redmi and Realme are likely to experience declines of 4 percent and 3 percent, making them the top potential losers. Except for Samsung and Vivo, other smartphone brands are anticipated to lose at least 1 percent of their market share. Here are some key points.

  • Lava’s recent Blaze, Agni, and Yuva Series launches target youth preferences in design and specifications.
  • Samsung and Vivo owners express satisfaction, but some users, particularly OnePlus fans, consider exploring other brands.
  • Apple users, especially youth and students, exhibit strong loyalty, with all respondents expressing intent to stick to an iPhone.

It is expected that more than 40 percent of smartphones sold in India by then will be bought by people under 25 years old. The shifts in market share within this age group will affect the overall rankings of smartphone brands in the market.

    GT 5 Pro is the company’s upcoming flagship smartphone that is slated to debut in China soon. Realme has been teasing the GT 5 Pro revealing key specs about the device. It is coming with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, and 1TB onboard storage. The brand has now revealed the launch date of the Realme GT 5 Pro.

     

    Realme GT 5 Pro launch date

    Realme GT 5 Pro is scheduled to launch on December 7th in Shenzen, China. The event will start at 14:00 China time, which would be 11:30 am for viewers in India. Realme will most likely livestream the GT 5 Pro launch event.

    In its launch announcement, Realme highlighted its upcoming phone as the “New King of Telephoto Imaging”. e GT 5 Pro will feature the Sony IMX890 telephoto lens said to be the largest and most light-sensitive telephoto lens in the industry. Inside will be a 50MP 1/1.56-inch large sensor with an f/2.6 aperture, 3x optical zoom, OIS+EIS, and all-pixel omni-directional focus.

    GT 5  is also confirmed to launch with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. As for the rest of its specifications, here’s what to expect from the Realme GT 5 .

    Realme GT 5 Pro specifications 

    • Up front, we could see a 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate.
    • Realme GT 5  is expected to launch with up to 16GB or 24GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage.
    • In addition to the 50MP telephoto lens, Realme GT 5  could also feature a 50MP Sony LYT-T808 sensor with OIS, and an 8MP OmniVision OV0810 ultra-wide angle lens. For selfies, the smartphone is tipped to house a 32MP front camera.
    • The smartphone is also expected to pack a 5,400mAh battery with 100W wired charging, and 50W wireless charging support.
    • On the software front, it will most like run Android 14-based Realme UI 5.
