Screenshot leak suggests Samsung Galaxy S24 series may feature iPhone-like satellite connectivity; Ultra camera specs tipped

The Samsung Galaxy S24 series is expected to launch around early 2024 and is expected to roll out to more marketing, including India shortly after. The lineup will include three models: the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus, and Galaxy S24 Ultra. Recently leaks have spilled quite a few details about the phone. A leak from a Galaxy phone reveals the Samsung Galaxy S24 series will come with iPhone-like emergency texting via satellite connectivity. This reiterates earlier leaks about the existence of satellite connectivity.

Separately, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra camera details have been reported, courtesy of the Korean outlet, The Elec.

Samsung Galaxy S24 and Samsung Galaxy S24 series   satellite connectivity 

• A new screenshot (via) from a Galaxy phone shows that Samsung will call the satellite connectivity feature as ‘Emergency texts via satellite.’
• The explanation below the feature reads “If you call emergency services when you’re out of range or not connected to a mobile network, we’ll connect you via a satellite network so you can send an emergency text.”
• The feature is expected to work the same way it does on iPhones.
• You can send text messages with your GPS location to emergency response teams so you can get help.
• The feature is expected to be available on Galaxy S24 units powered by Exynos and Snapdragon chips.

Samsung is said to have developed its 5G NTN technology, which offers two-way satellite communication. This meets the standards defined by the 3GPP. There are chances the feature could be limited to some markets initially and expand to other countries gradually.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra camera details

• According to The Elec report, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will come with a 200MP wide-angle primary camera, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 10MP 10x zoom sensor and possibly a 50MP 5x camera.
• Samsung will use the in-house 200MP sensor, while it will split the supply for the 12MP ultra-wide sensor with Namuga and Sunny Optical.
• Sunny Optical and Samsung will supply the 10x and 5x cameras.
• The 12 MP front camera will be supplied by Namuga and MCNEX, as per the report.
• In comparison, the Galaxy S24 and S24+ might feature a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 10MP 3x zoom, similar to the current generation.

As per the report, Samsung is aiming to ship 35.2 million units S24 series in 2024, of which 15.9 million are Galaxy S24 Ultra, 13.5 million are Galaxy S24, and 5.8 million are Galaxy S24 Plus.

• Display:Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is expected to feature a 6.8-inch WQHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a punch-hole cutout for the selfie shooter, sharp edges and there could be support for Dolby Vision.
• Processor:The flagship could be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, regardless of the location.
• OS: The handset is expected to boot Android 14 OS based on OneUI 6.0 custom skin out of the box.
• Connectivity: 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port for charging.
• Cameras:The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra could feature quad-cameras, with a 200MP ISOCELL HP25X primary camera, a 12MP ultra-wide angle lens, a 50MP periscope camera with 5x optical zoom, and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. There might be a 12MP shooter on the front for selfies and video chats.

If one technology that’s been the talk of the town in 2023, it’s AI. More specifically, generative AI. Samsung is said to pack features like ChatGPT and Dall-E.

The phone could be capable of translating texts within messaging apps in real-time between more than a dozen languages.

Perhaps, there would be a feature to enhance photos using AI like the ones we get to see on the Pixel 7 series.

It will reportedly have an option to find images in your gallery by just looking up the names of objects in the frame. Further, you may be also able to find more details about the object in the image.
