[Exclusive] Xiaomi 14 global and India launch expected at MWC 2024

The Xiaomi 14 series debuted in China in October, introducing the latest flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset from Qualcomm. The smartphones also operate on HyperOS, the new OS replacing Xiaomi’s MIUI. A reliable source has now hinted at the global and India launch date for the Xiaomi 14. Let’s delve into the prospective launch date and other relevant details about the Xiaomi 14.

Xiaomi 14 to be announced at MWC 2024

  • According to tipster Yogesh Brar, the Xiaomi 14 is set to make its global debut at the MWC (Mobile World Conference) 2024.
  • MWC 2024 is scheduled to take place between February 26th and 29th, 2024. Most big-ticket unveilings happen a day before MWC kicks off, so the launch event could take place on February 25th.
  • The tipster has also revealed that the device will simultaneously launch in India on the same date.
  • This aligns with expectations, as the Xiaomi 14 was recently spottedon the BIS certification website, a regulatory body in India that certifies electronic devices before their launch.

  • Xiaomi comes with up to 512GB of onboard storage but you can get up to 16GB of of additional space. So if you have the 256GB model, you can get 264GB of total storage space. This extra storage is actually reserved for Over-Provisioning (OP) that’s used to improve the performance and reliability of flash memory, according to a reportby GizmoChina. In fact, there’s usually more than 266GB of UFS memory storage in smartphones for OP.
  • Xiaomi engineers managed to use this extra space by rewriting the HyperOS firmware but without compromising on the phone’s performance, the report added. This way an extra 8GB of storage space is made usable for the 256GB model, and 16GB for the 512GB model. 256GB and 512GB already seems like adequate storage space but additional memory can be useful too.
  • This UltraSpace storage feature is however available only on select models of the Xiaomi 14 series. So you can get it on the 256GB model of the , and on the 512GB model of the. It isn’t clear why this feature is not available for the  256GB model.

The Xiaomi 14 series is currently available only in China. There’s no word on its global launch yet but the Xiaomi phones are expected to make it to other markets soon. Ultra is also expected to launch globally as part of this series. The smartphone was recently spotted on the EEC certification website suggesting a global launch.
