Samsung confirms Galaxy S24 series launch date: Unpacked event to be held on January 17th

Two weeks from now, Samsung’s next flagships – the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra will be unveiled. In a teaser shared by the company’s India handle on X, it has been revealed that the Galaxy Unpacked event will be held on January 17th at 11.30 PM IST. This is in line with previous leaks which suggested the same date for the event. The Galaxy S24 series is launching a couple of days earlier than usual, as the S23 series was unveiled in February 2023. However, the Galaxy S21 series did also launch in January.

Samsung Galaxy S24 series pre-orders now open

Alongside announcing the Samsung Galaxy S24 series launch date, the company has also opened pre-orders without officially revealing details about the phones. The Unpacked microsite shows a countdown along with the tagline “Galaxy AI is coming.”

The Samsung Galaxy S24 pre-orders are open and customers can purchase the #Next Galaxy VIP Pass at a refundable cost of Rs 1,999. Benefits worth Rs 5,000 are promised, without revealing additional details.

Samsung Galaxy S24 series launch: what we know so far

• The Galaxy S24 series launch event is reportedly being held in San Francisco, which has hosted quite a few other Samsung launches too.
• The Galaxy S24 series would be the first from the South Korean conglomerate to come packed with generative AI features.
• There text-to-image Generative AI feature, which Samsung spoke about during the Exynos 2400 announcement, could be present on the phones.
• With its AI features on board, Samsung is apparently trying to leave behind Google, who announced the Pixel 8 lineup with a bunch of AI-powered editing tools.
• The Galaxy S24 Ultra is reportedlygoing to be made of titanium this year, much like its favourite competitor – the iPhone 15 Pro models.
• In a major upgrade, the vanilla Galaxy S24 is also expectedto be available in a 12GB RAM configuration, albeit it may be restricted to only a few regions.

• According to a reportby GalaxyClub, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24’s base model will likely start at EUR 899 (around Rs 82,000) with 8GB RAM + 128GB storage.
• On the other hand, the 256GB storage variant of the vanilla model might be priced at EUR 959 (approx Rs 88,000).

Galaxy S24+

• The Samsung Galaxy S24+ will likely come in two models, priced at EUR 1,149 (around Rs 1,05,000) for 12GB RAM + 256GB storage, and EUR 1,269 (approx Rs 1,16,000) for 12GB + 512GB model.

Galaxy S24 Ultra

• The top-tier Galaxy S24 Ultra with 256GB storage is expected to cost EUR 1,449 (around Rs 1,33,500).
• The 512GB storage of the Ultra may be priced at EUR 1,569 (around Rs 1,44,500) and the 1TB storage might be priced at EUR 1,809 (around Rs 1,66,500).

• Display:The Galaxy S24 is expected to feature a 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED FHD+ 2X display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 2,600 nits peak brightness. S24+ has a 6.7-inch QHD+ display, while S24 Ultra boasts the biggest 6.8-inch display.
• Chipset:All three Galaxy S24 series phones will likely be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 or Exynos 2400, depending on the region. Indian variants are likely to get the Exynos chipset.
• Rear cameras:The Samsung Galaxy S24 series and Galaxy S24+ might feature two 50MP cameras with a 3x telephoto sensor, capable of recording up to 8K videos. On the other hand, the Galaxy S24 Ultra sports a 200MP primary camera with 3x and 10x telephoto sensors.
